Katja Petrowskaja

Katja Petrowskaja (b. 1970) was born as a Russian in Kiev and studied in Estonia, Moscow, New York and San Francisco. She has been living and working in Berlin since 1999. In 2014 she debuted with Vielleicht Esther, a story about the search for her origins and family, Jewish victims of Nazism and Stalinism. The book won several awards, among others the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, the Aspekte-Literaturpreis and the Premio Strega Europeo, and has already been translated into twenty languages. In March 2016 she will be writer in residence at Passa Porta in Brussels.
