Are you between the ages of 16 and 21? Do you like good lyrics and are you rhythmically inclined? Do you feel like sharing your stories, ideas and past with an audience in your own way? During Slam in 1210, you get the chance to work with all these ingredients (and many more).
This summer will see a new edition of Cantine Josée, a versatile and festive meeting place for and by the residents of Sint-Joost-ten-Node. This time, Team Josée will pitch its tents in Saint-Franciscus Park, tucked away between the Poststraat and the Groenstraat. In collaboration with Passa Porta, this edition will conclude with a series of slam workshops for young people and an Open Mic.
On the 28th , 29th , and 30th of August, you can join the free slam workshops between 5pm and 7.30pm in a tucked-away part of the park. During the sessions, you can both learn about the world of spoken word and refine your talents under the guidance of experienced and recognised talent Sakina and Giovanni. Previous experience is not a requirement. During the workshops, you will learn to transform emotions and thoughts into lyrics and discover how to share them with an audience in a compelling way. The workshops will be guided in English, French and Dutch, but any language is welcome.
On the 31th of August, you will have the chance to share new or improved work with the Cantine Josée audience. The Open Mic starts at 7pm and will be curated by MC Miksi who is also the founder of Speakeasy Brussels.

About the artists
Sakina El Kadourri (1996) writes poetry and slam poetry. Her texts are socially engaged and seek the tension between personal and collective responsibility. Her talent has already been noticed by Knack magazine and De Buren's Nieuw Geluid trajectory.
Giovanni Baudonck (1976) is a theatre maker, slam artist, actor and singer. And has been part of the Brussels slam scene since the very beginning. His bilingual slam talent brought him to stages such as Mama's Open Mic, Slammeke, De Sprekende Ezels, Auwla, Ongehoord and the festival of Watou.
Camping Josée is a collaboration between the municipality of Sint-Joost-Ten-Node, Bib Joske, Ten Noey and Brede School Sint-Joost.
