The Ancienne Belgique was transformed into an intimate literary stage during the Passa Porta Festival. Max Porter immersed the audience in the story of Shy, a troubled teenager who wanders in the night, accompanied only by the voices in his head. Supported by the deep bass tones of Nicolas Rombouts, Max Porter’s performance brought the character to life. Afterwards, interviewer Ruth Joos sat down with him for an intimate conversation about his career as a writer and this new heartbreaking novel.
