As an international house of literature, Passa Porta also wants to support literary creation. That is why we have been organizing residencies for both Belgian and foreign authors since 2004.

Foreign authors
Every year Passa Porta receives up to 9 foreign writers in residence in Brussels. We create the ideal work environment for their literary project, in the research and writing phase.

Are you Belgian and in need of space and time to write? We have several possible solutions for you.
Francophone literary authors and translators of francophone Belgian literature
In August 2026, Passa Porta is organizing its literary residencies for translators of Francophone Belgian literature and Francophone Belgian authors.
ICORN
Passa Porta feels very strongly about freedom of speech and supports writers in danger. That is why our house is part of ICORN (International Cities of Refuge Network). The cities and organizations in the network welcome and support writers who are at risk in their homeland.
Workspaces
Are you looking for a comfortable workspace where you can write and isolate yourself completely from the outside world? Then you are quite literally at the right address at Passa Porta. Apart from our official residency programme, authors may also book a fully equipped workspace in the heart of Brussels: the Passa Porta Studio.
