As the international house of literature in Brussels, we are here to stimulate the creation of literature. That is why, ever since Passa Porta was founded in 2004, we have been organizing residencies for authors from Belgium and abroad.

Material support
As a foreign writer in residence at Passa Porta you have at your disposal, for a minimum of four and a maximum of eight weeks, a comfortable and quiet apartment on rue Antoine Dansaert / Dansaertstraat, in the centre of Brussels.
For Belgian authors we also provide residences in their own country. And together with our international partners we organize residencies for Flemish authors abroad.
Content-related support
Besides the tangible support, there are many intangible advantages. You come in contact with the many partners of Passa Porta (publishers, translators, bookshops, programmers, etc.) and develop a new audience with which you can engage in dialogue via meetings and possible writing assignments.

Foreign authors
Every year Passa Porta receives up to 9 foreign writers in residence in Brussels. We create the ideal work environment for their literary project, in the research and writing phase.
Francophone Belgian authors
Are you Belgian and in need of space and time to write? We have several possible solutions for you.
Francophone literary authors and translators of francophone Belgian literature
In August, Passa Porta is organizing its literary residencies for translators of Francophone Belgian literature and Francophone Belgian authors.
ICORN
Passa Porta feels very strongly about freedom of speech and supports writers in danger. That is why our house is part of ICORN (International Cities of Refuge Network). The cities and organizations in the network welcome and support writers who are at risk in their homeland.
Workspaces
Are you a writer and are you looking for a comfortable workspace where you can isolate yourself completely from the outside world? Then you are quite literally at the right address at Passa Porta. We put one workspace in the heart of Brussels at the disposal of authors: the Passa Porta Studio.
