Warren Ellis is not only Nick Cave's ultimate right-hand man with the Bad Seeds, but also a much-in-demand composer of film music and a gifted storyteller. Especially when he can elaborate on his sources of inspiration. He did so in Brussels on the occasion of his first book, the remarkable Nina Simone's Gum.
In a packed AB Club, on 5 November 2021, Warren Ellis talked to Kurt Overbergh, artistic director of the AB, about his first steps as a musician and everything that inspires him every day, from the Armenian film The Colour of Pomegranates to the music of Greek singer Arleta.
An account of a conversation with a generous artist.
