Daan Heerma Van Voss

Daan Heerma van Voss (b. 1986) is a Dutch novelist, interviewer, and historian. He has contributed to leading newspapers and magazines in countries including the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.

Wat we missen kunnen ('What We Can Do Without'; Babel & Voss), a collection of essays edited and introduced by Van Voss, was published in 2010. His first novel, Een zondagsman ('Sunday's Man'; Atlas), came out that same year and was nominated for the Anton Wachterprijs for debut authors. Since then, Van Voss has published a number of novels, such as Zonder tijd te verliezen ('Without Wasting Time'; Atlas, 2012) and Het land 32 ('Country 32'; De Bezige Bij, 2014).

His literary thriller Ultimatum (Prometheus), co-authored with his brother and writer Thomas Heerma van Voss, was published in 2015, along with his travel book Een verlate reis ('An Overdue Trip'; De Bezige Bij). His latest novel, De Laatste Oorlog ('The Last War', De Bezige Bij) appeared in January 2016.

Van Voss has previously been a writer-in-residence in New York. He will stay in the Passa Porta writers' apartment at the Place du Vieux Marché aux Grains in April 2016. His residency is part of the exchange programme between Passa Porta and the Dutch Foundation for Literature.
