Jasmin B  Frelih

Jasmin B. Frelih (b. 1986) is a Slovenian writer of novels, short stories and essays. He studied comparative literature and history at the University of Ljubljana, and has worked as an editor at the literary review I.D.I.O.T. His texts have appeared in, among others, the Slovenian literary magazine Dialogi. His English translations of Slovenian poetry have been published on Versopolis.

Frelih debuted in 2013 with the novel Na/pol. In 2015 he released Ideoluzij, a collection of futuristic short stories in which Frelih writes about individualism and social relations and takes a good look at the canvas of human existence.

Frelih's work has been received to great acclaim. In 2013 Na/pol was nominated for the Slovenian prize for best novel, and in 2016 he was one of the laureates of the European Union Prize for Literature. The translation rights of his work have been sold to the Netherlands, Italy and the United Kingdom, among others.

Jasmin B. Frelih will be staying in Passa Porta's writer's flat in May 2017. His residence takes place in the context of a collaboration with the European Union Prize for Literature.
