Queer writing performance

The term that was originally used to designate strange and idiosyncratic things has, for a number of years now, been inextricably linked to the creative sector. Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick already made clear in the 1990s that queerness refers to much more than just sexual preferences. But is there such a thing as a queer artistic practice? Every Saturday in March, young, experienced and novice authors gathered at Passa Porta to write, experiment and explore the boundaries of what ‘queer’ writing means to them. The result of these workshops will be presented to the public for the first time during the Passa Porta Festival weekend.
Surprise surprise
We can’t reveal yet what it is exactly you’re going to see. The literary creators of the workshops will design – spontaneously, collectively and on the spot – the format in which they want to share their creations with you.
about the artists
Writer Pieter Delfosse has already collaborated with Inne Goris (LOD Muziektheater), Vonk & Zonen, Julie Pfleiderer + ICTUS and many others. His work reveals an escapist desire to leave behind familiar writing techniques. In light of this desire, he founded his own writing company in 2021, with which he likes to share his own methods with others.
Laika Planchenault (they/them) writes for others and for themselves. Their personal work explores the boundaries of form and content. With special attention to the subconscious, Laika explores their position in the world through their writing. This resulted in 2023 in their first collection of short stories,I Should Really Quit. Laika favours autobiographical elements and banal, playful language. During the day, Laika works as a communications officer. They are also an editorial member of Kortfilm.be. After participating in the Queer Writing Group in 2022, Laika has been putting their weight behind the project since 2024.queer writing workshops
The workshops use various writing exercises and experiments to playfully challenge writers. From dialogues to collage texts to something that doesn’t have a name yet … Writing, reading and discussing without judgement; the experiments are accessible and the outcomes uncertain. No writing experience required, but a sense of daring.
