Waar Gebeurd Leeg Boekje

As a foreign-language translator from French (in particular of a French-speaking Belgian author), a French-speaking Belgian translator or a French-speaking Belgian author, you can apply for a residency in August 2019 at Seneffe Castle. This residency welcomes you in a peaceful and productive setting for your work, just a 30-minute drive away from Brussels.

What does the residency consist in?

This summer, in the tradition of the European College for Literary Translators of Seneffe, Passa Porta will relaunch a series of residencies devoted to literary translation and to writing. The residencies take place from 1 until 31 August 2019. For international translators from French, it will provide the space and time necessary to create in the renovated outhouses of Seneffe Castle (a 30-minute drive from Brussels). Two places are reserved for French-speaking Belgian authors and two places for French-speaking Belgian translators. The objective is to support them in their work and to build bridges and stimulate exchanges among professionals.

A room with a workspace will be put at your disposal, and meals will be provided. Residents will receive a per diem, on condition that their work will be released by a publishing house.

You will also have access to a library. Visits to Seneffe as well as workshops and meetings on translation and French-speaking literature from Belgium will be organized (programme forthcoming).

How to apply?

If you wish to apply for a translator or author residency at Seneffe, please send us an email by 30 April 2019 at seneffe@passaporta.be, attaching your CV, a summary of the translation or writing project, and your availabilities for August 2019.
