Martin Driessen

Martin Michael Driessen (1953) is a Dutch actor, director, translator, and writer.

After a thirty-years stay in Germany, where he worked as an actor and director, he came back to the Netherlands, where he started to make a name for himself as an author. His first novel, Gars, published in 1999, was nominated for the literary price AKO. His short story collection Rivieren formed his breakthrough and won the literary price of the ICE in 2016. In 2018, he published his short story collection Mijn eerste moord en andere verhalen, showing a reduced form of what readers expect from Martin Michael Driessen: meticulous and powerful plotting in a brilliant language. In 2019, the Van Oorschot editions published his novel De heilige.
