Miki Laval
Miki Laval is a mixed-race writer born to a Polish prince and a Burman missionary. She works as a freelance writer, editor, creative copywriter, and translator in Montreal, Quebec. Her fiction and non-fiction have appeared in numerous print and online publications as well as her first story collection for her M.A. thesis, Everything’s Just Wonderful. Much of her work is influenced by her parents’ interracial marriage and their undiagnosed PTSD.
During her residence at Passa Porta, Laval works on her first novel which deals with sexual power, religion, intergenerational trauma, and the erasure of racial origins. Her residence at Passa Porta was made possible thanks to an agreement between the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).
