Mattias Timander (1998) is a writer and literary critic from Sweden.
He is passionate about languages and literature, as is clear in his debut novel Din vilja sitter i skogen (“Your Will Lies in the Forest,” 2024). His book has been translated into German, Finnish, Albanian and Dutch. In the book, a young man from an unremarkable village in the far north of Sweden moves to the big city, where literature and the artistic life beckon. In a poetic Swedish dialect, Mattias explores the relationship between nature, culture, literature and the search for happiness.
During his residency at Passa Porta in May 2026, Timander is working on a new novel about stories, nature, and quiet small-town life.
