On Tuesday, November 19, we will award the eighth Passa Porta Noble Prize to Octavia E. Butler, the pioneering American writer of Afrofuturism, author of prophetic, haunting, and powerful novels such as Kindred and Parable of the Sower. Although still too little known, Butler’s work has a devoted readership. We have invited a few of them to read excerpts from her work to help initiate an authentic ‘Butlerotheca’.
