“It took me a very long time to find my voice. And I don’t think I have it one hundred percent yet, I don’t think it’s possible for a person to one hundred percent accumulate their voice. I think it’s ever changing, ever growing, ever expanding, maybe retracting, whatever it may be, but it’s always this kind of process.”

“Social distancing” is what experts advise, “social nearness” is what we aim for with our literary events. As a consequence, Passa Porta decided to close its doors in order to protect everyone as much as possible from the coronavirus. Fortunately, we had the opportunity to move the talk with Dayna Ash online, giving us the chance to share her knowledge and ideas with a Brussels audience.

You can watch the interview with Dayna Ash below. She speaks with Tessel Veneboer (Passa Porta) and Tunde Adefioye (KVS) about Haven for Artists as an art space and a safe space, about the Lebanese revolution and the role of women and the queer community, about queer courage, queer art, her own art and the literature that inspires her.
