meet the author : guiliano da empoli
The Wizard of the Kremlin missed out on the Prix Goncourt in France but that hasn’t stopped it from being a bestseller. Having just won the Choix Goncourt in Belgium, the Swiss-Italian writer Giuliano da Empoli will kick off the Passa Porta Festival!
meet the author : mohsin hamid
Born in Pakistan, Mohsin Hamid has lived in Italy, England and the United States. Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize several times, this ingenious world writer has always sought to explore and extend the notions of belonging and identity. He will do us the honour of opening the ninth edition of the Passa Porta Festival. An ideal start to an edition on the theme of REFUGE.
Meet the author: Timothy Garton Ash
Few historians have seen their lives as intertwined with the modern history of Europe as Timothy Garton Ash. For half a century already he has been reporting on European politics, often as an eyewitness. The publication of his latest book, Homelands: A Personal History of Europe, is an ideal occasion for a talk with Karel Verhoeven, editor-in-chief at De Standaard.
Counterforces : lore binon, ikraaan & amina osmanu
For her first libretto, poet Dominique De Groen immediately gave her all, refusing to settle for anything less than a call for anti-hysteria and radical witchcraft. Singers Lore Binon, IKRAAAN and Amina Osmanu have been given free rein by composer Frederic Croene to attack his piano playing with radical vocals.
Visite féministe du Béguinage
Nomade, le Passa Porta Festival prend cette année ses quartiers à l’église Saint Jean Baptiste. L’occasion de revisiter ce quartier où des béguines trouvèrent refuge.
Marine Schneider and Brèche de Roland
Un concert dessiné exceptionnel pour petits et grands, et une création inédite pour le Passa Porta Festival. Ouvrez grand les yeux…
Brecht Evens
A brilliant illustrator and multi-award-winning graphic novel artist, Brecht Evens will create a fresco in real time. His subject? Refuge, the theme of this 9th edition of the Passa Porta Festival.
