2025 - Mimi Haddam

Residencies for foreign authors
06/01/2025 - 26/02/2025

Mimi Haddam is a Quebec writer of French-Algerian origin living in Tiohtià:ke / Montreal.

So far she has published Attendez de m’enterrer pour chanter (Noroît, Coll. Adelphe, 2023), Il existe un palais de teintes et d'hyperboles (Noroit, Coll. Omri, 2018) and Petite brindille de catastrophes (Éditions de la Tournure, 2017, revised edition 2019).

During her residency at Passa Porta, Mimi Haddam will devote herself to writing a poetic essay aimed at revisiting certain aspects of identity based on the sensitive and affective relationships that female and/or gender non-conforming bodies have with their environments. Her project calls for an ethic of responsibility towards the different forms of life - human and non-human - with which we cohabit and which open us up to murky realities, wrapping in a single breath everything that threatens to be frozen in binary oppositions.

This residency was made possible thanks to an exchange between the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, WBI, Passa Porta, and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
