A certain highland half-licked bear,
His fate confined within a lonely wood ;
A new Bellerophon, he wandered there,
Till grown a fool : Reason, 'tis understood,
Remains not with sequestered people long...

(Jean de la Fontaine, "The Bear and the Gardener")

To avoid the risk of losing your mind like the bear in Jean de la Fontaine's fable, we offer you the company of words and music.

Without fear of conflict of interest, Passa Porta has commissioned a series of mixtapes from her own production employee,Coline Cornélis, dj and illustrator in her actively spare time.

Coline has created for you a mini thematic collection of pieces bridging music and literature - written sounds and speaking rhythms vs instrumental words and sung senses.

This first opus, inspired by the theme of "home", includes readings from Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon, which speaks of returning home; Mona Chollet's Chez soi, an essay that dissects the domestic space; Herman Hesse's Steppenwolf, whose main character evokes the reassuring feeling that bourgeois interiors evoke in him; and finally J.M.A. Biesheuvel's Reis door mijn kamer, which proves that imagination always travels beyond the contours of our dwellings.
