In this masterclass Maud Vanhauwaert will tackle these topics: Why is it a good idea to combine your writing with building installations, performances, organizing events? How to pitch your ideas to partners or funds? And in addition: lots of examples and experiences from being a city poet.

In the context of the international talent development program CELA, deBuren and Passa Porta are organizing a unique specialisation course on literary curatorship.

In a series of 5 online Zoom masterclasses we are welcoming renowned speakers from the Belgian and Dutch literary field. After a presentation and in some cases an exercise, there will be time for questions and discussion.

Maud Vanhauwaert is a writer and creator. She received a master's degree in Linguistics and Literature from the University of Antwerp and a master's degree in the art of spoken word from the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, where she now teaches. She received the Vrouw Debuut prize for her poetry debut Ik ben mogelijk (2011, published by Querido). She also received the Hugues C. Pernath Prize and audience award of the Herman De Coninck competition for her collection of poems Wij zijn evenwijdig_ (2014, Querido).

In her work, she searches for playful and theatrical ways to make poetry more accessible. She performed on radio and tv, in her homeland and abroad, and in various locations ranging from opera houses to sheep stables. She was appointed honorary citizen of the city of Veurne and from 2018 to 2019 she was city poet of Antwerp. In May 2020, Het stad in mij (Dag Mag) appeared, a masterpiece of more than 300 pages.

Organized by deBuren, Passa Porta, CELA and Creative Europe.
