Language
For 39 Sundays, Filip Rogiers has been reading from Dutch poet Hans Andreus’ collection Sonnetten van de Kleine Waanzin. Each week, in a new location across Brussels, he presents a sonnet, preceded by the work of a "guest poet" and followed by Rogiers' own writing. On Sunday, October 6, he will conclude his Andreus tour on the terrace of Passa Porta, and he invites you to join him.
Rogiers and Andreus
Filip Rogiers, a Brussels-based writer and poet, deeply admires the work of Dutch poet Hans Andreus, especially his sonnet collection Sonnetten van de Kleine Waanzin. Motivated by a selfless love for poetry, Rogiers has spent months sharing these sonnets with others.
The Brussels tour
For 39 weeks, Rogiers has appeared in different locations around Brussels every Sunday at 2 p.m. sharp, reading from Andreus' sonnet collection alongside the works of other writers and his own. As the final sonnets approach, Rogiers will read the 39th and last sonnet on Sunday, October 6, a moment Passa Porta is eager to mark.
Join us!
That’s why we invite you to come to the Passa Porta terrace on Sunday, October 6, at 2pm of course, and take part in our open mic, with your own work, but also with one text that you hold close to your heart. You don’t have your own work, but do have a text you’d like to share? That’s welcome too! You would prefer not to share your favourite poems and prefer listening to someone else’s work? That’s also welcome!
We warmly invite you to the Passa Porta terrace on Sunday, October 6, at 2 p.m., again, for an open mic event. Share your own work, along with a piece of writing that is meaningful to you. If you don’t have any of your own work but still want to participate, feel free to read something you love. And if you’d prefer just to listen, that’s perfectly fine too!

Open mic: Filip Rogiers invites you
Meet the author: Sulaiman Addonia
Hannah, the main character of Sulaiman Addonia’s new novel The Seers, possesses a voice that holds you spellbound from the first sentence of the book to the last. By the end of this 160-page single paragraph, you might feel like a boxer after winning a fight in a ring: broken but euphoric. Peter Verhelst will tell us why the book is ‘world-class’ and Melissa Giardina will talk to the author. Actress Aminata Demba will read from it.
