Iris Boudreau
Iris Boudreau (1983) is a Quebec illustrator, graduated in comic strip from the Université du Québec en Outaouais in 2006. Since her arrival in Montreal in 2007, she has devoted herself to all kinds of art forms, from painting to illustration and, above all, comics. She began her journey with rather introspective and autobiographical comic strips, before turning to fiction. Her books often deal with the same themes: everyday life, urban life, the discomfort of social interactions, friendship, love... These themes are always treated with humour (often black) and derision.
Iris Boudreau has published in a few Quebec and French fanzines, in collections of small editorial structures and in Quartier Libre. During the summer of 2005, she kept a newspaper in comic books on the Internet. She tells the story of her daily life and childhood memories, one board at a time. It is this virtual journal that will be his first book, Dans mes rellignes (2006). She likes to tell stories about fictitious but realistic characters who evolve in a sometimes surprising and strange everyday life.
In 2015, his thirteenth book, Encore plus de choses qui existent (in collaboration with Cathon) was published by the Montreal publisher La Pastèque. She is also the author and draughtswoman of the serie Les autres, published monthly in Curium magazine, volume 1 of which was published in book format in the fall of 2016.
During his residency, Iris Boudreau worked mainly on Folk, a western comic strip in three volumes. His stay in the apartment of the Vieux Marché aux Grains will give him the opportunity to devote himself full time to writing and drawing. It is also an opportunity for her to immerse herself in the richness of the Belgian comic book tradition and to share with her colleagues.
