Performers Charlotte Vandermeersch, Anissa Boujdaini, Yoann Blanc and Itsik Elbaz kicked off the Passa Porta Festival with the Prelude, just a month before the festival weekend. The four fantastic book lovers revealed which festival authors are their favourites and read from their work.

As a lifelong reader, Yoann Blanc picked the American writer David Vann as his favourite. He reads from the writer's new work Halibut on the Moon, a book that was — exceptionally — simultaneously published in English, Dutch and French.

Charlotte Vandermeersch knows Buzz Aldrin, What Happened to You in All the Confusion? through and through. She brings a fragment from her monologue based on Johan Harstad's novel.

Itsik Elbaz was deeply moved by the work of French writer Marie NDiaye. He introduces us to the novel Trois Femmes Puissantes, which won the Prix Goncourt in 2009.

Anissa Boujdaini reads from Why I No Longer Talk To White People About Race by the young British author Reni Eddo-Lodge, who wrote this stringing indictment of structural racism.
